Best Buddies Friendship Walk

About a month ago I participated in the Best Buddies Friendship Walk with the Yorktown Best Buddies Club.  Its taken me forever to open up my laptop and write this post.   Every event I participate in for Best Buddies is better than the last, the Friendship Walk was the best one yet.

The walk was a 5K on the mall downtown.  The Capital Region walk was the biggest in the country and Yorktown raised the second most amount of money behind Washington-Lee, who raised the most.
After completing the walk which was so much fun, we had a pizza and dance party.  I had a blast with our club and it was so great to see how many people are apart of the organization.

We made it on the DC snapchat story.

The Best Buddies was so much fun and I can't wait for more events this year.  I highly reccommend joining the Best Buddies club at your school.

First Week of School

Summer is officially over!  I just finished my first week of junior year; and can already feel the stress building with each syllabi and list of school supplies.   However,  I'm excited and scared for what this year will bring.  Here is my first week of school recap.

First Day of School:

My first day of school outfit of the day:
I wore  This Kimchi Blue Ballet Surplice Dress in black and white ($59) from Urban                                                                  Outfitters.
                                                       White Converse    ($50).
This  Marc Jacobs Baker 36 MM grey watch ($195).

First Home Football Game:

Our first home football game, which we won, was against Wakefield High School.  The theme was America in honor of the 14th anniversary of 9/11.  Pictured above is the Hype Squad tailgating in the parking lot before the game.

ootd: I wore...
these US Flag print cotton leggings from American Apparel ($32).
and these Stars and Bars Converse ($60).

College Football:

Saturday morning my family drove to College Park to watch the Maryland vs. Bowling Green football game.  It was the Decades Game, which my family attends every year, to honor the football alumni.  First we attended an alumni tailgate thrown by Maryland Football, and my dad was able to catch up with all his old teammates. It was pouring rain the whole game, which didn't stop us until half time, which is normally when all the former players and their family go on the field; however, the stadium was evacuated  due to inclement weather.

Then we headed to Towson University to watch the Towson vs. St. Francis game.  My dad made tons of food for an amazing tailgate.  Then the rain finally stopped for game time.  The Towson Tigers played a great  game and beat St.  Francis.  At the end of the game we were able to see and catch up with my brother Quinn.

Scott's Run

Since I have been stuck in Arlington all summer I wanted to write a series of blog posts on staycation ideas for Northern Virginia and D.C.
If you have been on instagram this summer (which if you are under the age of 50 you have) you will have seen dozens of pictures of people standing under the waterfall at Scott's Run.  Scott's Run Nature Preserve is located in Fairfax and is a quick hike, probably 15-20 minutes, that leads to a small waterfall and opening to the potomac river.
Scott's Run is a fun because you can go in the water; however, there are still many rocks so I would wear water shoes, which sadly I forgot to bring.

I wore a triangle jolyn swimwear top in this pattern.
All the photos above were taken with my Go Pro Hero on my Go Pole, which is a waterproof and floating Go Pro stick.

Scott's Run Nature Preserve is located at 7400 Georgetown Pike.

Have fun on your staycation in NOVA!

Weekend at Bryce

Hope everyone had another fun summer weekend.

Since my brother left for college at the very beginning of the summer my family didn't want to take a vacation without him; however, that has left the rest of us bored in Arlington all summer.  This past weekend my family were lucky enough to stay at my Aunt and Uncle's mountain cabin at Bryce Ski Resort.  My mom's whole side of the family goes to Bryce every year to ski over Christmas break, and occasionally for a reunion in the summer.  In the summer there is a man made lake, Lake Laura, and there are plenty of hikes, zip-lining, and mountain biking to keep you busy.  However, the lake was being drained to do repairs so we were not able to relax in the dark water.  Although, we still had an amazing weekend in the woods!

 Car ride polaroids.
Bo slept on my lap the whole way home.
The ride to Bryce is always nice because of the rolling hills and farmland.
Fun Fact: my grandparents bought a farmhouse here to turn it into a bed and breakfast; however, then sold it shortly after and went to Europe, only leaving a note to tell my mom.

 Bo and a Go Pro.

We went on the North Mountain hike near Shrine Mount; however,  at the time we did not realize that the hike would be extremely steep and covered in rocks the entire way up (about a 3 to 5 hour hike).  Above are pictures and a video at this huge outcrop of rocks from the mountain.

After the hot and exhausting hike we headed over to the pool to relax and cool off.
I wore this Jolyn Swimwear top and old Victoria Secret bikini bottoms.

Enjoy this video of me swimming under water!

On Sunday we went zip lining which was so much fun.  I took videos on my go pro but they are too long to import into blogger so here  is the link to the first video and here is the link to the second   zip-lining video.
